What are the most fundamental building blocks of matter?
What is the origin of quarks and leptons? How do they interact with each other?
How are all the interactions unified? How was the universe born? How has it evolved to the present?
These are the questions we are going to answer.
The biggest mysteries in current physics are the Higgs boson and dark matter. A Higgs-like boson was found at LHC in 2012. Yet we do not know its true character. The issue is to pin down the structure of the unification of forces. There may be supersymmetry and extra-dimensional space behind them. The ultimate unification of all interactions including gravity becomes possible in superstring theory.
We are proposing new ideas. In the gauge-Higgs unification scenario the Higgs boson is unified with gauge fields in higher dimensions by the Hosotani mechanism. The TeV scale gravity may reveal itself as blackhole production at the LHC. We are entering a new era in which the notion of spacetime itself is revolutionized.
